BETRELSEN posted by Kevin O'Brien on Friday, February 5, 1999

I am looking for anyone that can provide me with information regarding Mr. Andrew Bertelsen (1887) and Mrs. Lenore Shannon Bertelsen (1896). This handsome man married my great-aunt around 1920 or so in Merrill. They eventually moved to the Zephyr Hills and Clearwater, Florida areas. Many whom I have spoken in the Saginaw-Merrill-Hemlock have told me Andrew Bertelsen had brothers and sisters. Lenore was the younger (and much prettier) sister of my grandpa Wilfred Granville Shannon, who was a Saginaw County/Jonesfield Township pioneer. I would appreciate any information, no matter how trivial. I've already paid for an entire new wing of the Pacific Bell telephone company with long distance charges, so additional highway robbery by them shouldn't hurt too much. Thank you, Kevin O'Brien

COLBY posted by A. Lucas on Saturday, February 13, 1999

I am looking for information on Zenas E. COLBY, a resident of the city of Saginaw, Saginaw Co., MI until at least 1935. In 1926 his address was 3145 S. Washington, Saginaw. In 1935 his address was 2216 Delaware Blvd., Saginaw. I believe that his father may have been Zenas J. COLBY, a Civil War soldier (23rd Infantry, Co. H) from Tawas Co., who died prior to 1869. Grandfather was probably my ancestor, Thomas Wells COLBY, a Baptist minister and veteran of the War of 1812. Any information on Zenas COLBY and his family would be appreciated.

BEJEAN, BIJOUX, BISHOP, DOYLE, LEVESQUE posted by Laraine Clark on Monday, February 15, 1999

I am looking for verification of the birth of my great grandmother, Genevieve Bishop (or Bijoux, Bejean or Levesque, as the name may have changed after her birth). My grandfather claims that she was born in "East Saginaw", MI in Sept., 1874. She died in Vancouver, WA in 1933. Her father was Charles Bishop and her mother Mary Jane Doyle. Both of them were from the area of Campbellton, New Brunswick. However, census and other records show that Charles and Mary Jane came to the U.S. in 1883, when Genevieve would have been 9 years old. A distant Doyle relative seems to think that Charles and Mary Jane may have come separately and then married in Saginaw, had Genevieve in Saginaw and then returned to New Brunswick, returning back to Saginaw by 1883. We are unable to solve this mystery and welcome any assistance.

SCHROTH posted by norma harkness on Sunday, February 28, 1999

Looking for information on g.g. grandfather Jacob Schroth who in the book "Michigan Soldiers In The Civil War", it is stated that he was in Saginaw, Michigan in 1861. In looking at the 1860 census he was not there. Jacob came to America in 1854 from Germany and this is the first mention of him. I am trying to find out where he was from 1854-1861. Any help is greatly appreciated. Willing to share later information with anyone. Thanks.
